RD ALFA is the successor of the plant INVERTOR and Scientific-Research Institute MICROPRIBOR that were a part of the former Scientific-Production Association ALFA. In the former USSR this association and the establishments it contained were for many years the main plants of the Ministry of Electronic Industry in the field of analogue and analogue-digital microcircuits. The plants founded in 1960 were actually the pioneers of the microelectronic technique in the former USSR. For many years of work in this field they accumulated significant scientific and industrial experience in specific designing of analogue technique, in the problems of technology (Bi and CMOS), designing, circuit technique and testing. At the same time the local universities arranged the preparation of the well trained specialists in micro-electronics.

At present RD ALFA in its main part manages to keep the mentioned traditions and to continue the design and production of analogue and analogue-digital microcircuits. It can be confirmed, particularly by the fact that the Ministry of Defense of Russia accredits the military take-over of its production that is supplied for the plants of Russia dealing with the military take-over.

The level of the design and production of RD ALFA can be characterized by the goods that are designed and produced (see Attachment).

The current stage of the establishment can be characterized as stable. The production is supported by the orders of a number of enterprises (mainly in Russia). Our goods are competitive at the Russian market of micro-electronics because of their low cost, confirmed military take-over and, which is important, production relationships that were created for years.

Additionally to the microcircuits of our design, RD ALFA has re-designed and established the production of about twenty microcircuits that had been produced before at the electronic plants of the former USSR that do not exist any more. These are mainly operational amplifiers, comparators and analogue keys. These goods, being novel for RD ALFA, take about a half of its production.

As for new designs, their number is limited mainly because of the low business activity in Russia while the direction to Russian market is up to now remaining at the same time the potential of designing is defined by a rather modern base of construction and by presence of 4-5 active and 10 potential developers that are qualified in the field of analogue and analogue-digital microcircuits.
