The University of Connecticut
The University of Connecticut is the only unit in the Connecticut of public higher education authorized by the constitution of the State of Connecticut to offer the Ph.D. degree. Graduate education and research have been designated as its primary missions. The main campus at Storrs, Connecticut, serves approximately 16,000 students and has a faculty of 970. It consists of approximately 120 major buildings on 3,100 acres of land in a rural area. UConn offers 120 majors at the undergraduate level. The graduate School offers degrees in 80 fields, often at both the Master’s and doctoral level. There are now approximately 5500 graduate students at the Storrs campus. UConn was rated 28th among American public universities in the latest U.S. News and World Report ranking, and first among New England public universities.
